Multicast bandwith

I am trying to understand if the multicast traffic is sent individually to every registered person on the network even if they are physically on the same LAN.

I am asking this because I am on a wifi manet network and packets needs to be sent only once to save bandwith over the air.

ZeroTier emulates multicast by sending packets to each node listening to a multicast address (up to the max number configured on the network; see “Multicast Limit” on the network config). Unfortunately it won’t be a bandwidth saver for you as there’s no way to encrypt packets to multiple nodes at once, nor does ZeroTier itself utilize multicast as an underlying transport mechanism.

Thanks for this honest answer.
