99% CPU on Almalinux and very high ping

On 2 Almalinux 8.7 machines with ZeroTier 1.10.2 the ping times are > 3000ms and I have 80% packetloss. TOP on those machines show:

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND

A reboot doesn’t seem to help, how do I downgrade to a lower version like 1.8.7?
On all other Linux hosts it works without issues when using 1.8.7 and I have a ping of 14ms (which is normal)
