Hey guys and galls! I’m an absolute novice when it comes to networking but I’m willing to learn and wanting to get better. I’ve set up a network with 4 users and im able to ping them but I’m unable to connect to them directly to use it like a Remote Desktop kinda thing. If I’m not mistaken this should be possible, but I can’t seem to get it to work. I’ve tried windows to windows, windows to Mac and vice versa, Mac to android, android to windows, when I enter the managed IP address in the browser, I get Time out or failure to connect messages. Do I have to make exceptions in the firewall settings ?
Can you please nudge me in the right direction? Thanks in advance,
Greets and regards, Mart.
If you’re using the browser to check connectivity, a timeout is normal since the other machine probably isn’t serving up a web site. If you want to remote control the screen of another computer, you’ll need to set up the service on the serving side and find an appropriate client software to use.
And then you’ll need an RDP client on the Mac to connect to the Windows Machine. Microsoft has an OS X client named “Windows“ you can download from the App Store.
