I feel really stupid

Over a year ago I set up zerotier on my home PC so that I could watch Blue Iris security videos remotely and it works great! It is currently running on my iPad and iPhone and I would like to watch movies on my home server, which is on the same network as the zero tier PC. Please excuse my ignorance, but I find no reference of where on my iPad I should go to access my home files. Nothing in the FAQs, nothing in the documentation tells me specifically how to access the home files. All of the dozens of YouTube videos show how to set up on the computer but not to access on an iOS device.

What do I do?

Assuming that your files are on a NAS/Windows File Share, you can use the Files App on the iPad to connect to the server and browse the files and play movies. Ref : Transfer files from iPad to a storage device, a server, or the cloud - Apple Support (BW)

My files are on a NAS at home and can be viewed by any device on the same network. This is what I see on the iPad and iPhone:

and this

Tap on the button with the three dots and there should be an option “Connect to Server”. In there, the syntax would be smb:///.

Once you’ve authenticated, your iPad will be connected to the server and you can browse the contents over the network.
