I am new to ZeroTier and currently setting it up to manage a small but mixed environment of Windows, macOS, and Linux machines, both local and remote. I have successfully connected all devices to a virtual network, and basic connectivity seems to be working fine. Although; I am trying to understand the best practices for optimizing performance, especially when dealing with latency and peer to peer connections over the internet.
How can I ensure traffic is routed peer-to-peer whenever possible instead of through a relay?
What firewall or router settings should I double-check to facilitate direct connections?
Is it worth configuring custom routes or using a controller in a setup with fewer than 10 devices?
Also, if anyone has experience with ZeroTier in a remote team collaboration setup; I would love to hear how you have handled security and network reliability.
