Why does the main service continue to run and be active after the software is exited? Definitely a red flag to have an always running service that actively makes connections.

In part:
- So that nodes can connect to ZeroTier networks while there is no active desktop session.
- Administrators can prevent regular users from observing and/or modifying network status.

No, it isn’t, and writing things like this will make people ignore you.
Not sure about your install, but AFAIK you could install it such that there was nothing in the UI to tell a user it was running. IDK if you can still do that or not, but I’m not surprised that closing the UI doesn’t kill the connection. Since this type of software is used to provide reliable remote connections, it makes sense that an errant user couldn’t kill it accidentally by closing programs they didn’t know the purpose of. It’s only a “security concern” from the user’s perspective when they don’t consider that.
