Hi all,
I’ve bitten the bullet and upgraded to DSM7.
As I have another NAS which is unable to run docker, it would still be nice to have a solution with standard packages…
To my surprise I found a Tailscale package in the standard package list.
Digging a bit further:
- Seems like you can run as root if the package is signed by Synology ( What third-party packages are supported on DSM 7.0? - Synology Knowledge Center). I did not yet check the Tailscale package how they did it. In any case, their source is on github: tailscale/tailscale-synology: Synology packages for tailscale.com (github.com)
- There also seems to be a wireguard package to sideload, with explicit instructions on how to install it on DSM7: runfalk/synology-wireguard: WireGuard support for some Synology NAS drives (github.com)
Just wondering, if Wireguard & Tailscale are able to run, would there be any hard issues preventing Zerotier from using a similar set-up?
(That being said, I can imagine there are better ways to spend your time)
Kind regards,
Timmmy
