Unable to connect 2 Windows boxes via RDP

I have two computers at home. I’m running a Windows Sandbox on both computers. Both sandboxes have ZeroTier installed, Remote Desktop enabled, and the Defender firewall disabled. Both are authorized on the ZeroTier console. I can ping one from the other. I cannot, however, get Remote Desktop to connect in either direction.

I’m not sure what to do, at this point, to get Remote Desktop to connect.

Am I missing something?

EDIT: I tried VNC in addition to Remote Desktop and that too failed to connect.

try doing telnet from on windows PC to another using port 3389?

I have this working now. I believe the problem was that I didn’t do the following:

I’ll need to remove the “File and Printer Sharing” allowance to see if that breaks the connection or not. Seems weird that I’d had the firewall completely turned off previously and it didn’t work.
