Unable to login to my Macbook Pro since installing zerotier

I am staring at the Macbook macOS Big Sur Login Screen Default Background Image:

No icons, no command line - just the login screen. The computer is connected to zerotier, but I cannot access more than a single folder that I had backing up to Google Drive before the zerotier installation.

The on-board display is burnt (stopped working about 6 years ago) so I use an external display to access the Macbook. It was working fine before zerotier even though it’s 10 years old.

Any ideas welcome. Have tried all the reboot into safe mode without avail.
