VPN Connection Issue on UDP Blocked Networks (iOS/iPadOS 18.x)

Hi everyone,

I’ve encountered an issue with the ZeroTier app on iOS and iPadOS where the VPN fails to connect when using a network that blocks UDP traffic. Here’s a summary of the problem:

  • Devices Tested: iPhone running iOS 18.0.1 and iPad running iPadOS 18.2.1
  • Network Conditions: A network known to block UDP traffic

When I try to connect to ZeroTier on these networks, the app fails to establish a connection. It seems like the TCP relay isn’t kicking in when UDP is unavailable.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue? If there’s a workaround or a fix in the pipeline, I’d love to hear about it!

TCP Relays are not supported on mobile platforms. Neither Android, nor iOS

Thanks for the quick response. Do you know if there are any plans to support TCP relays on mobile platforms like iOS and Android in the near future? It would be incredibly helpful for situations where UDP traffic is blocked.
