Windows self hosted controller stops working

Hi , I have a VPS windows server from GoDaddy, I had a self hosted controller installed and working for years.
Untill recently it stopped working for no obvious reason, every peer is stuck in Requesting_configuration.
When I move the entire controller to my local pc it works.
I tried to disable firewall and antivirus, I also tried to install a fresh instance , different version , nothing works from my online server.
I can only access the API via browser.
It is likely something with the network but I cannot figure it out , I spent the whole week trying to get it working but I had no luck. Is there any way to test that my controller have access to the root servers and that peers can see it?

GoDaddy blocks access to the root servers on ZeroTier. When we brought this up with them to try to get unblocked, we got this response from them:

I have received word back from the department which controls the networking, and they have advised to let you know that the traffic is blocked on our network intentionally and we do not support the use of ZeroTier at this time.

Our only recommendation is to use a different hosting provider.

Thank you for the info, but is the access to root servers required even if I set up my private root server ?

Yes, root access is required. Controllers are not root servers. Root servers are what let instances of ZeroTier find each other so they can communicate. Controllers are what manage access to ZeroTier networks.

I know about the controllers , but I was asking about private root servers or moon’s, can I use them without the official root servers?

Don’t know about moons, but considering GoDaddy’s official position on ZeroTier, I doubt it. Moons still require access to the roots as well.

Self hosted roots is a whole can of worms that isn’t publicly documented, nor do we support that configuration outside of large enterprise contracts at this time.
