ZeroTier doesn’t work anymore in Cuba

I’ve been using ZeroTier for almos 2 years.I not use like 2 week ago because i am change for a new house. Now suddenly all my nodes no longer connects to ZeroTier servers (all of them reports OFFLINE and the peer list has no IPs).
If I use a VPN to tunnel my traffic then zerotier-cli info reports TUNNELED and then the peers IPs show up.
I’m wondering if this sudden change is a geo-restriction on ZeroTier’s side. And if so, why now ?

  • have you tried allowing IPv6?

Me respondieron al privado bro cuba esta restringida no e probado la sugerencia de usar ipv6 pero no creo q sea solucion para nosotros lo q no se es si hostear zero tier propio sirva sobre internet y no solo localmebte habira q averiguar

I can confirm at least for cuba not work

A question ,if i self host a zero tier server center in a VPS ,that will work for example to connect a friend in brasil with me in cuba in lan over internet without restrictions

Personally I think it is worth a try.

I had very good experience with this: ZTNET

  • a small 1GB RAM 1CPU VPS with Fix IP is cheap
  • many providers offer a 30 day trial
  • I have installed a Webmin to see everything easily (CPU + mem + running services)
  • installing a Docker takes only a minute
  • installing a Portainer also (it’s free for personal use)
  • but you will need at least a sub-domain you can set the fix IP for. (I guess there are free providers for that too.)

Recommend:

  1. Change default SSHD port from 22 to something else ! (not 2222)
  2. activate Caddy on ZTNET’s config file
  3. create your own root = moon
  4. set different PORT as default !!!
  5. send new planet file to your friend (stop service before overwriting!)
  6. after everything is set → enable 2FA on your server’s admin page.

A question ,the zerotiers android app going to work in the same way with that configuration o i need something else

No, default (original) Android app will not work. There are 1-2 alternatives.
Read the doc!
iOS / iMac / iPad will not work at all !!
