Zerotier-one: fatal error: authtoken.secret could not be written

I am getting this error on a fresh Debian install. How do I go about sorting this problem?

How did you install ZeroTier? How are you attempting to run it?

I installed using the command on the ZT download page: curl -s https://install.zerotier.com | sudo bash

From there I do the normal zerotier-cli join xxx

Everything looks normal but the client never shows up in the web portal. If check “zerotier-one info” I get the error in the title of this thread.

Are you using sudo to issue zerotier-cli commands? If not, you should be, though the error still doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Will try spinning up a Debian VM and see if I can recreate your issue
