ZT disables private DNS on Android

I usually run Android (Pixel 6 Pro, Android 14) with
Private DNS on and a Private DNS provider selected.

But if I turn on ZT, Private DNS immediately changes to “Couldn’t Connect”,
(whether connecting via local wifi or cellular).

Now, there is no such problem if I run VPNs:
eg Mullvad or ExpressVPN.

Also, ZT is just being used to access its own overlay network,
not the wider internet.
And the wider internet remains accessible.
Just Private DNS gets disabled.

Seems to make no sense.

fwiw, Changing Configuration from No DNS to Network DNS makes no difference.

So why does enabling ZT disable private DNS on Android?

here’s a ‘bump’
to help it not " close a month after the last reply",
(a counterproductive protocol btw, - I have seen questions on other forums answered a year later by someone who suddenly had the same problem)
in the hope that someone will have an idea of why.
